Cotian Poodles`- about us

Cotian Poodles is a small kennel that was established in 1969 by my parents, Gene and Doris Cozart. My parents bred Toy Poodles but as soon as I was old enough to have my own dogs, Standard Poodles became the focus of my doggie activities. It seems incredible, but this was 33 years ago! As a teenager, I was fortunate to work with two of the best known dog people in the US Northeast – namely Bill Trainor (all breeds handler) and Wendell Sammett (Alekai Kennels). At the time, this seemed a normal thing. I have come to realise just how lucky I was and treasure the knowledge and friendships that came from these experiences. My parents retired from breeding Toys in the late 1980’s and from that date, I have only had Standards.

More recently, my family (husband Bill and son Trevor) have been fortunate enough to move around the world with our careers in the oil industry. Naturally the dogs came with us and introduced us to wonderful people around the world. As a result, many of our best friends live in Sweden, Asia, South America and of course, the US and Australia.

We have been residents (and lately citizens) of Australia since 1992, although there was a 3.5 year stay in Jakarta in the mid 1990’s. After spending many years in Melbourne, our family moved to Perth in 2002 and plan to stay here for the foreseeable future.

We only have 2 or 3 Poodles resident at one time (always in the house) as our lives include a busy teenager’s schedule, ownership of a small business and spare moments on our boat.
